 Naturathlon 2009 20 years after the opening of the iron curtain between Eastern and Western Europe a unique legacy of nature is in the centre of public interest: The European Green Belt – the former border strip between East and West Europe. Here, until 20 years ago there was an insurmountable border which, meanwhile, harbours a fascinating natural environment with a diverse variety of species: from the “death strip” to a “life-line”. It now unites what had been separated for decades.
